To create the AI-optimized resumes, I used prompts that asked the AI to reframe my experiences for specific industries while keeping all information accurate. My prompts included instructions such as “Reframe this experience for a finance role,” “Highlight analytical and accuracy-related skills,” and “Rewrite this resume to emphasize communication and customer-experience strengths for marketing.” By directing the AI to focus on certain qualities, it adjusted the tone, keywords, and structure of each version to better match what employers in those fields look for.
The main differences between the original and the AI-generated versions were the addition of clear objectives, industry-specific language, and rearranged bullet points that highlight skills valued in finance or marketing. The content was largely the same, but each version presented my experience through a different lens.
Through this process, I learned how important clarity and specificity are in prompt engineering. The more precise the instructions, the more targeted and relevant the output becomes. It also showed me how tailoring language and keywords can make the same experience appeal to different audiences.
